Spinal Adjustments

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression

Chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which trained specialists (chiropractors) use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, also known as spinal manipulation, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body's physical function.

Spinal decompression stretches the spine by having the patient lie on a special motorized table. The table stretches and relaxes the spine intermittently in a controlled fashion. The process can retract or reposition a herniated or bulging disc material back into the disc.  It can also promote an influx of healing nutrients into the disc, fostering a better environment for healing to occur.

Laser Therapy Treatment

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression

Laser Therapy Treatment

Laser Therapy uses a specific red or near infrared wavelength of laser light to increase circulation, decrease swelling, reduce pain and enhance tissue repair. Healing is accelerated by decressing inflammation, pain and scar tissue formation. Laser therapy can help with arthritis, plantar fasciitis, repetitive stress injuries, fibromyalgia and much more.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Stabilizing Foot Orthotics

Laser Therapy Treatment

Ultrasonic waves are transmitted using a round headed wand on the patient's skin. The sound waves that pass through the skin cause a vibration of the local tissues. It has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow and scar tissue breakdown. The increased blood flow can help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation.

Spinal Traction

Stabilizing Foot Orthotics

Stabilizing Foot Orthotics

Spinal traction stretches the spine to take pressure off of compressed spinal discs. Traction can be performed manually or mechanically. It's used to treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves and many other back conditions.

Non-surgical spinal decompression treatment

DRX9000 Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression treatment is a non-surgical approach to alleviate back or neck pain and improve spinal function. It involves the use of a specialized table called the DRX9000.  The DRX9000 gently stretches the spine, creating negative pressure in the disc space, which can help reduce herniated or bulging discs, pinched nerves, and other spinal conditions.

How Does It Work?

When a spinal disc becomes compressed, either slowly over time or quickly from an acute injury, the disc will either bulge or herniate outward.  The protruding disc material can put pressure on sensitive nerves in the spine.  The pressure on the disc and nerves can be very painful and can cause pain, numbness, tingling, and/or weakness into the arms and legs.  Spinal decompression therapy is based on the principle that stretching the spine can create negative pressure within the intervertebral discs.  This will help to decompress any compressed discs.  This process can help relieve pressure on pinched nerves and promote healing of damaged discs.

The mechanics of spinal decompression involve several key components:

  1. Mechanical decompression: The patient lies face up on a specialized table (DRX9000), which then slowly and gently pulls to stretch the spine. This creates negative pressure within the disc space, promoting fluid flow and nutrient exchange..
  2. Negative pressure: As the spine is stretched, the pressure inside the disc decreases, allowing any protruding disc material to be pulled back into a normal position.
  3. Nutrient delivery: The increased fluid flow helps deliver essential nutrients to the damaged disc tissue, promoting healing and regeneration.
  4. Reduction of pressure on pinched nerves: By pulling the spinal disc away from the spinal cord and spinal nerve roots, the pressure on these sensitive structures is removed which will alleviate symptoms like pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the neck, back, arms, and legs.

What Are The Benefits?

Spinal decompression has been shown to be effective in treating various spinal conditions such as degenerative disc disease, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and facet joint syndrome. Some of the potential benefits include:

  1. Reduce pain and inflammation
  2. Reduce numbness, tingling, and/or weakness in the arms and legs
  3. Improved mobility and flexibility
  4. Increased blood flow to the affected area
  5. Enhanced nerve function
  6. Prevention of further damage to the spine
  7. Avoid surgery and the risks associated with surgery

Conclusion

Spinal decompression treatment offers a non-invasive alternative to surgical intervention for those suffering from spinal conditions such as herniated or bulging discs, pinched nerves, and spinal stenosis. While it is not suitable for everyone, individuals who suffer from any of the aforementioned conditions should consider discussing their options with one of our qualified chiropractors.  After a thorough examination and consultation, the chiropractor will determine if spinal decompression is an appropriate treatment option.  With proper care and maintenance, spinal decompression can offer significant relief from chronic back and neck problems, improve function and improve overall quality of life.
